A Performance Bond is a guarantee provided to the project owner, principal or employer to support a contractor’s obligations under a construction contract. It concerns completion within the agreed period and compliance with the contract specifications.
It serves a different purpose from Contractors’ All Risks insurance, which concerns insured contract works and specified third-party liability. A bond does not replace that insurance.
